First Impressions
Have you ever wanted to make a good first impression but aren't sure how? Here are a few tips and tricks to make the first encounter with a potential employer that little bit easier.
SmileThe easiest tip of them all that adds the most value. Smiles attract smiles, it is a proven fact.
Dress to impressNow this does not necessarily mean suit and tie, however dressing yourself up does showcase your intentions to impress. Whether you know it or not you are the face of a company, or atleast that’s how you could be portrayed by your customers or potential customers. This could be as simple as, clean shaven, show your face features with no hats or glasses (unless prescribed), brush up your favourite do, pull out that once a year get up.
Firm handshakeThis is not gender specific either, a handshake can show your physicality if that is the role or your confidence. Shake with a firm grip. Do not be shy.
Do your homeworkIf its an organised interview. Research the company, gain some information you can highlight in the discussions. If you know the persons name, address them by their name constantly. It personalises the conversation. If you know any personal leads to do with your interviewer, even better. Do not be afraid to have a conversation that touches upon something that you may have in common. e.g sports, family, news….. not the weather lol
Be yourself, but be awareWow so this sounds quietly deceiving, well no. Be yourself to the core, but be vigilant in your surroundings especially your context in conversation. None to absolutely none swearing, profanity, be culturally and religiously aware. We are all different, even more so when we do not know eachother. So, respect the unkown.
