Our Story

Our journey into business

Kiwi Staff is a proud Māori-owned and operated team, dedicated to connecting workers with meaningful employment opportunities across a wide range of industries.

Our story began humbly in the garage of our Director, Mainu, where the foundation for Kiwi Staff was laid through hard work and innovative thinking. Established in April 2014, Mainu brought six years of prior recruitment experience to the venture, which quickly grew into something greater. By 2015, Kiwi Staff transitioned to its first office space at 108 Grandview Road in Nawton—a move that symbolized our deep commitment to supporting and integrating with the local community.

Like any startup, the journey came with its share of challenges and rewards. While Mainu tirelessly worked to build a reputable business, Mere supported their whānau as a dedicated teacher, shouldering the financial responsibility during the company’s early days. Their upbringing, shaped by the values of hard-working parents, combined with the experience of raising their four children, fueled their determination to make Kiwi Staff a success.

From these humble beginnings, Kiwi Staff has grown into a trusted name, embodying resilience, family values, and an unwavering commitment to empowering others through employment.

A message from the Director

The road never ends

With people as the focal point, Mainu would service Waikato businesses with their recruitment needs, working with our local bodies to build a reputation of innovation, Genuity and being there for whaanau as they head along their mahi journeys. Slow and steady the growth would be supplying and supporting 1 person at a time within their chosen fields of mahi, focusing on quality and then building on and on.

“As we built a reputation we continued to innovate being as agile as we can as an employment service and continually wanting to do better for our people and local businesses”
